Laurie Schaa

Laurie Schaa, 52, was born October 18, 1961, in Story City, Iowa, to Keith and Sharon (Reisem) Schaa. She passed away at Mercy Hospice in Johnston on September 7, 2014.
Laurie graduated from Murray High School and studied at Calvary Bible College for one year. She worked as a CNA for 29 years at ChildServe.
Laurie was a member of Aurora Avenue Bible Church and she loved surrounding herself with the Word of God. She had a host of friends she stayed in touch with over the years and was continuously reaching out to others. Laurie enjoyed creating homemade greeting cards and stamping.
Laurie is survived by her father, Keith (Sonia) Schaa; brother, Jeff (Jackie) Schaa; nephews, Joel (Michelle) Schaa, Joshua (Jenna) Schaa, and Jesse (Christina) Schaa; great-niece, Chloe; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Sharon.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2014, at Aurora Avenue Bible Church, 5 NW Aurora Ave. in Des Moines, with a committal service beginning at 3:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Cemetery in Kamrar, Iowa. Visitation will be held at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines on Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Aurora Avenue Bible Church in loving memory of Laurie.

I was so very sorry to hear that a very dear classmate from Murray High School had passed. Laurie always had a beautiful smile and cared for others. May God's love be with all of her family.

I worked with Laurie. She loved her job. Always smiling. She loved to bake goodies and bring them to work for all the staff. I will miss Laurie, we use to go out to lunch together. I truly am sorry for your loss.rest in peace my friend.

Schaa Family: My sincere sympathy to Laurie's family and friends!! Laurie assisted with my health care and was an wonderful person to have in my care. i am a cna from childserve I work with laurie for a long time we had some fun times together laurie was a kind caring person who love her kids at childserve laurie always want to play tricks on fellow co workers my deepest sympathy to laurie family im sure she will be a go getter up there in heaven I will remember the memories sorry for your loss
