Anita Polson passed away Sunday, August 26, 2007 at Kavanagh on Grand. She was born September 6, 1952 to William II and Lorraine Cunningham in Norwalk. Anita was a 1970 graduate of Lincoln High School where she met her husband Jim of 37 years. Together, on the south side of Des Moines, they raised two daughters, Tammy (Adam) Monaghan of Des Moines and Susanna (Troy) Allen of Indianola. Anita and Jim resided there until they built their dream home, in which she drew the plans for, 14 years ago in Indianola. She spent her time gardening, walking and fishing on her farm. Anita retired from the U.S. Postal Service Bulk Mail Center in 2004.
Anita was blessed with seven grandsons, Phillip Polson, Aaron, Jr. and Matthew Van Alstine, Tyler, Austin, Vincent and Dalton Allen. She also leaves behind three brothers, Carl, John and Jimmy Cunningham and their spouses. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Bill and daughter, Tina. Anita was a second mom to all her nephews and nieces and her daughter’s friends, a sister and best friend to all! She would have family dinners for 40 to 200 people in her home and not complain about cooking or cleaning up after them. She lived to give to others, never taking a break for herself.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. with burial at Sunset Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
We love you and miss you, but find peace in knowing that you are no longer in pain at home with the Lord!
