Larell Frederick Kock, 88, passed away at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines on Thursday, June 5, 2014.

He was born January 16, 1926 in Burlington, Colorado to Fred and Lena (Petersen) Kock.

Larell was a veteran of the US Navy serving in WWII. He was a founding member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Des Moines. Additionally, Larell was a member of Auburn – Union Park #592 Masonic Lodge, Za-Ga-Zig Shrine, Amvets Post # 2, the Croatian Center and enjoyed volunteering for many years at VFW Post #9662. He worked 20 plus years for Iowa Packing Company and went on to drive for 16 years for Duke Ready Mix.

Larell is survived by his children, Roger (Sue) Kock, Francis (Sofia) Kock, David Kock, Elizabeth (Glenn) Griffin, Greg (Bonita) Kock, and Bob (Sheryl) Kock; 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 6 siblings.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Catherine; parents; great-grandson, Calvin Brandert; 2 siblings; mother-in-law, Mathilda Suing; and father-in-law, Zeno Suing.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 9 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 2600 E Euclid Ave, Des Moines, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
