Hazel D. Courtney, 78, passed away Monday, June 2, 2014 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. Hazel was retired from Pepsi-Cola and worked many years at Wright Day Care, an in-home day care. Her greatest loves were her family, friends, and Bingo.
Hazel is survived by her daughters, Toni (Doodle) and Michelle (Terry); four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph (Fatso); sisters, Mary Scovel and Betty Mongar; and brothers, Charlie, Bill, and Jim Little.
A memorial visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 13, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family.

Sorry for your loss Toni and Michelle. I'll always remember Aunt Hazel fondly. She was always my favorite aunt growing up! She always could make me laugh,She was a great person and she will be missed !. Love you Aunt Hazel.

Sorry for your loss Toni and Michelle. I always remember Aunt Hazel with a smile on her face. She was always nice and friendly to me, even though it has been a long time since I have seen her, she will always be remembered. Now she is at peace.

My Nana was the strongest and most beautiful person in my life. She was independent and remarkably sweet. I love her more than I can really put into words, and my heart is heavy knowing that she is gone. I love you Nana.

Toni & Michelle & family, Nothing like being shocked when looking for another person and seeing Mom's obit. I am so sorry, I've had memories of her since 1st grade at SAS when Toni and I were hanging out. What a nice person, and saw her all thru life and at Bingo and always had kind words to say with a few laughs from years past, Rest in piece Hazel. No more pain...

You were the best Hazel!! Always loving & fun. Strong when you needed to be and you & Fatso welcomed me into the family with no question. Loved you dearly & will miss you. Hope the family will be able to heal knowing you are in God's arms.

Toni And Michelle and family iam so sorry of the lost of a wounderful lady she was like a 2nd mom to me she was with me when L.Joe was born I will miss her so much her and fatso was always there for me rip hazel you are in a better place and no more pain
