Elizabeth Tarver

Mrs. Elizabeth “Liz” Anne Tarver, 50, of Frederick, Maryland, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at Kline Hospice House. She was the wife of Carlton M. Tarver, Sr., his wife of 25+ years.

Born April 22, 1964, in San Francisco, CA, she was the daughter of Jerrie Hubbuch (husband Edward) of West Des Moines, IA, and Brad Johnson (wife Ruthann) of Naperville, IL.

Liz grew up in Des Moines and attended Saint Anthony’s Grammar School, graduating from Dowling High School in 1982. She worked for several years at Younkers, and she met and married her husband while in Des Moines. Liz was employed by the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (A.O.P.A.) from 2005 until her death. She loved traveling, red wine, and was an avid bowler.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by her children Vanessa Tarver of Frederick, MD, and Maurice Tarver of Philadelphia, PA; two brothers Jon Johnson (Brenda) of Dallas Center, IA and Peter Johnson of CA; two step-sisters Elizabeth Miller (Jeffrey) of WI, Jenny Fuller (Paul) of OH; and step-brother Jamison Hubbuch of AZ. She was preceded in death by her step-father John P. Sergio.

A Memorial Mass will be held at Saint Anthony Catholic Church, 15 Indianola Road, Des Moines on Saturday, June 14, at 10:00 am. The celebrant will be Reverend Michael Amadeo.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to Frederick Memorial Hospital Hospice Care Center, Kline Hospice House, 7000 Kimmel Road, Mt. Airy, MD 21771.

Interment will be private.
