Yula Lanore Widmer, 97, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Braybrook Assisted Living in Hudson, Florida. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street with visitation on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 from 5 – 8 PM at the funeral home. Burial will take place at 10 AM on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Finley Chapel Cemetery near Wayland, Iowa.

Yula was born December 18, 1916 in Crawfordsville, Iowa the daughter of Wilbert and Alice Williams Rose. She graduated in 1934 from Crawfordsville High School. Yula attended Iowa State Teachers College and taught in Rural Schools. On April 8, 1939, she was united in marriage to Gilbert Widmer. In 1954 she and her husband graduated from Open Bible College in Des Moines. She assisted her husband in pastoring churches in Wisconsin, Illinois and Iowa. Additionally, they served as Chaplains at Park View Care Center in Wayland. In later years, they held services at Triple B Park in McAllen, Texas where they wintered. She later went on to winter in Florida.

Yula enjoyed going to the Southside Senior Center, attending Ladies of Faith Prayer Group as well as other activities and services at Glad Tidings Assembly of God which she was a member. She also worked as a volunteer at Midwest Old Threshers in Mt. Pleasant for many years where she formerly lived.

Yula is survived by her daughters, Karen (Harvey) Chandler and Linda (William) Turpin; brothers, Maurice (Mary Lou) Rose and Marshal (Carol Ann) Rose; grandchildren, Todd, Tom (Stacy) and Troy (Amy) Weese, Howard (Katie) Chandler and Leona (Daryl, Jr.) Mace; step-grandchildren, Nancy Chandler, Rebecca (Al) Minnis, Mike (Jane) and Jeff (Katie) Turpin and Sherry Parkhurst (David Miller); many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and extended relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a great-grandson, Johnny Moore; and her sisters, Marie Reeder and Gladys Brecheisen.
