Richard Hibbert, Jr.

Richard Hibbert, Jr. 63, passed away from a heart attack on Tuesday, May 20, 2014. He was born April 12, 1951 to Richard and Viola Hibbert in Des Moines, Iowa.

Richard was a proud Vietnam Veteran. He retired from DOT after 24 years and enjoyed working part time at Bass Pro during retirement. Richard enjoyed playing pool, gardening, walleye fishing and camping. He especially loved spending time with his family. Richard was always supportive of his grandchildren in all of their activities. He will be remembered for his great personality and being a helpful individual to all.

He is survived by his loving wife, Georgeanna Hibbert; son, Eric (Debbie) Hibbert; mother, Viola Hibbert; grandchildren, Ashley Hibbert, Jade and Josie Osborn, Rylee and Jaxson Winkelman; daughters, Heather (Jeff) Osborn, and Holly (Jayson) Winkelman; brother, David (Deb) Hibbert; sisters, Ruby (Dave) Allsup, Clarice (Bob) Lowe, and Joyce Short; father-in-law, Paul Carico; two nieces; four nephews; and his Shih Tzu, Kobi.

Richard was preceded in death by his father, Richard Hibbert, Sr.; and grandparents, Ed and Ruby Neiman.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 27, 2014 from 10 to 12 p.m. with the funeral service at 12 p.m. at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines. Burial to follow at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter.
