Christine Woods
April 01, 2014
Christine Woods, 42, of Des Moines passed away April 1, 2014 at Taylor Hospice House from complications of Leukemia.
Chris was born July 7, 1971 in Des Moines to Jim and Patricia Daughenbaugh, the 5th of eight children. She was known as the peacemaker of the family. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1989. Chris worked at Unity Point at Home Healthcare where she loved her job and made many friends and everyone enjoyed her.
Chris married Gary Woods in 1998. Together they had three daughters whom she cherished. Chris loved the outdoors, (although she was highly allergic to the outside), music, and most of all, spending time with her family and friends. Chris loved life and had a smile that touched everyone she met.
Chris is survived by her husband, Gary; daughters, Nicole (14), Lauren (10), and Lily (8); sisters, Michelle (Greg) Bastian, Melissa (Mitch) Olson, and Mary (Will) Blakelock; brothers, Jim (Holly), Patrick (Fran), Michael (Stacie), and David (Megan) Daughenbaugh; 22 nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and a niece.
The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. with the Rosary recited at 7 p.m. Friday, April 4, 2014 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 15 Indianola Avenue.

My heart breaks for the loved ones friends and all of the lives that Chris touched in her short time on this earth. Although I never met Chris she touched my life in so many ways that only a person with her character and beautiful spirit could do. Her journey was full of courage and hope and she extended that to so many thru her faith and thru her Love of God. I pray for Gods mercy and Grace as this family moves forward and I pray for healing. And to Michelle and family I am so very, very sorry.

Chris was such a joy to be around. It was an honor to work with her and I know she will be missed by many. She could always light up a room with her smile and sense of humor. It breaks my heart to know she suffered for so long. The entire family is in my thoughts during this difficult time.
