Dolores J. "Dee" Price

Dolores J. “Dee” Price, 82, passed away unexpectedly at her home on March 3, 2014.

Dee was born in Waukegan, IL on January 2, 1932 to Irene (Roberts) and William A. Stark. She graduated from Osceola High School and attended AIB College.

Dee’s career in the aviation industry began in 1962 when she pursued flying lessons. Her initial solo flight came on the same day she landed a job with Des Moines Flying Service. She began as Executive Assistant to company founder Howard Gregory. She retired as Vice President of Sales Administration. During nearly fifty years of service to Des Moines Flying Service she was respected and appreciated for her dedication and hard work. Dee loved her job and enjoyed many lasting friendships throughout her career.

Dee loved to travel. She enjoyed many trips to Florida visiting her daughter Sue. Her fondness of France led to private tutoring in French and many trips to France and Western Europe. Her favorite hobbies included reading, playing cards, Scrabble and dominoes.

She was a member of The Des Moines Art Center, Civic Music Association, and Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. She particularly enjoyed her affiliation and participation in her breakfast club, The Women’s Reciprocity Group.

Dee is survived by her children, Dr. Steven (Jan Myatt) Price of Iowa City, IA, and Sue Price of Des Moines, IA; sisters, Carol Palmer of Urbandale, IA, and Deletha Gabrielson of Richardson, TX; grandchildren, Dr. Jill (Tom) Fish of Hastings, NE, Amy (Brad) Macrorie of Lenexa, KS, and Joshua (Jeannine) Myatt of Longmont, CO; great-grandchildren, Abigail and Harper Fish, Riley, Kendall and Payton Macrorie, and Harrison Myatt. She loved her family and cherished times spent together. Dee was preceded in death by the father of her children, Robert K. Price; and her brother, Larry Cunningham.
