Frank Victory Exline, 95 years old, passed away at the Central Iowa VA Hospital on Saturday, February 15, 2014. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 20, also at the funeral home. Burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted.

Uncle Frank was born October 13, 1918, in Des Moines, son of Archie and Josephine (Schreckengost) Exline. He served his country in the United States Navy from 1938 to 1958. During World War II, he was a prisoner of war held by Japan from May 6, 1942 through August 19, 1945 when the war ended. After his retirement from the Navy, he delivered flowers and also worked at Des Moines General.

Uncle Frank enjoyed many trips to see his nieces and nephews. He saw the world with the Navy. He also enjoyed many fishing trips to Canada, Minnesota, North Dakota, and Arkansas.

Uncle Frank is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and eight sisters. He is survived by his sister, Emma Best of Des Moines, numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews - too numerous to mention by name.

The family wishes to acknowledge the Central Iowa VA Hospital and Hospice CLC2, Doctor Benjamin, and all of the staff and nurses who were so kind and caring to our brother and uncle.
