Marcus M. Mireles, 66, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at the VA Hospital in Des Moines.
Marcus was born March 18, 1947 in Des Moines, Iowa to Benito and Patricia (Quijano) Mireles. He proudly served his country in the US Marines, serving two tours of duty in Vietnam. Marcus was employed by Titan Tire for 32 years and retired from Polk County. He loved to spend time with his family and friends.
Marcus is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Sharon; daughters, Maria (Rick) Barth, Marie (Shane) Myers, and Marlena Mireles; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Alfred (Judi) Mireles and Joseph Mireles; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, February 17, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 18 at Our Lady of the Americas Visitation Catholic Church, 1271 E 9th Street. Inurnment ceremony will be held at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, IA at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family or to Our Lady of the Americas.

So sorry to hear about your loss. Marcus was a great man and will be missed greatly at the Polk County Health Department. He was always so thoughtful and willing to help out with anything.
