Glenn Miller

Glenn Miller, 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by family Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Bickford of Urbandale Assisted Living.

Glenn was born September 30, 1924 in Adelphi, Iowa to Harold and Mary Jane (Freel) Miller. He was a proud East High alumnus and Hall of Fame inductee for track. Glenn served in the Coast Guard during WWII. He worked for John Deere for 37 years and was an active member of Church of Christ.

Glenn is survived by his children: Michael Miller, Glynis King, Carolyn Brock (Robert), Bruce Miller (Debbie), and Steve Miller (Kay); ten grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and wife, Darlene.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife and mother of his children, Helen Patricia Miller; second wife, Joyce Miller; grandson, Chad McCoy; and sisters, Doris Connatser and Ethel Huffaker.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Woodland Hills Church of Christ, 2484 SE 68th Street, Pleasant Hill with burial at Powers Warren Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 24 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.
