Cody Joe Mikesell

Cody Mikesell was born February 12, 1983 in Des Moines, Iowa. He was a people person and loved being a dad. He liked playing pool and never said no to a good meal. Cody enjoyed watching movies and Xbox. He liked all sports, but was primarily an avid Red Sox fanatic.

Cody lost his battle with cancer Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Methodist Hospital at the age of 30. He is survived by his wife, Ashley; children, Jaelyn and Lainey; parents, Brenda (John) Wells and Mike (Kim) Mikesell; and siblings, Kari Mikesell, RayAnn Wells, Zach Dressic, Stephanie Pryor, Linda Carter, Patrick Carter, Jeffrey Carter, and Casey Mikesell. He is also survived by his grandparents, Jim and Edie Mikesell, Barbara and Tom Ballas, Lonnie and Barbara Wells, Dale and Pat LaFary, Guy Pryor, and Robert and Martha Hall; father- and mother-in-law, Lyle and Elaine Baumgarten; brother-in-law, Derek (Shelby) Baumgarten; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Services will be held at Eastside Church of the Nazarene, 1451 East 25th Street, Des Moines. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, January 20, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 21 with burial to follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Cody Mikesell Memorial through any Great Western Bank.
