Daniel M. Jones, 64, passed away at Lutheran Hospital on Sunday, January 5, 2014. He was born January 31, 1949 in Des Moines, Iowa to Daniel Merril and Clara (Houghton) Jones. Daniel bravely served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He loved spending time with his family and was always there for them. Daniel enjoyed football, fishing and horses. It was apparent to those who knew him that he loved the Lord. Daniel worked as an equipment operator his whole life and was married to the love of his life for 41 years.

Daniel is survived by his wife, Karen Jones; children, Daniel (Patty) Jones, John (Jessica) Jones, Mallissa (Lewis) Thompson, Chrissy (Casey) Gray, Bonnie Jones, Danielle Jones and Matt Jones; 16 grandchildren; and sister, Sue (Bill) Bauer.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 10, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street with visitation for two hours prior to the funeral, starting at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Dad today is going to be ready hard I can't sleep trying to get thing done mom trying to be the strong women she has always be but she hurting bad and misses you more than words can say, she started crying when I told about this page what people was writing on it ( mom not into web sites) only her games on the computer. I remember Danny coming to Grandma Mildreds church. He was always so friendly and his smile was always so genuine. I'm truly sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of his family during this time.

Danny was a faithful member and worker at the church. Willing to help where-ever needed. Driving bus for the Sunday School department, working as a usher, ministering at the missions, ready to testify about God and give Him all the Glory. His (church) family will miss him and send our prayers and thoughts to his wife, children and family. It was a honor to know him.

I remember going to the House of God and also to the mission when we first got saved ,with Danny, and His brother Donnie. We went because we loved the Lord, and Danny surely did. We would testify about God's goodness & mercy and we would seek more of God's presence in our lives. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. We will always miss his great smile and love of the Lord. When Danny testified you always knew the praise was going to God.

I will always remember Danny coming into church smiling. He was so good to my grandparents and supported them at church with his "Amens!" If something needed fixing he was always willing to help. My prayers are with Karen and the family. I know he will be deeply missed. Just remember he's only gone a little ahead of us and you will all be reunited someday.

I'm so sorry for you loss. I remember Danny in grandmas (mildred) old church. He always came in shaking hands with everybody and always had good testimonies. Praying the Lord will give you all peace during this time.

I love you Dad and I'll see you again, and I'm going to keep my promise to you. I love you so much and having a hard time (you already know) with this and I know you watching over all of us, and we'll all make sure mom is taken care of . I hope you are taking care of god white horse. Dad I can't quite crying everytime I talk about it, you know I cry like baby with that lip moving. I know your in a better place but hard not seeing your face that gray hair , you sitting on the side of your bed knowing I can't call you anytime I want.

I am so very sorry for your loss .I know this don't help right now but one day you all will meet him again in the glory of Heaven . My prayers and thoughts are with you all .I knew Danny from years back and he was a funny man always made everyone around him laugh and if you was having a bad day fine Danny because he will always make things better . I have so many wonderful memories of my Uncle Danny. He was truly a great man with an amazing heart. I will miss his laughter and his wonderful sense of humor. I love you and I will miss you everyday until we meet again.
