Darlene Wignall

Roberta Darlene (Lillie) was born October 7, 1926 in Valley Junction to Owen and Mildred (Smith) Lillie. She married Russell Wignall and together they shared 69 years of marriage. Family was extremely important to Darlene. She and Russell moved to Canada following their retirement and spent 17 years there where Darlene enjoyed fishing. She also liked going to Prairie Meadows and playing bingo and the slots. Darlene passed away at Taylor House Hospice on January 1, 2014 at the age of 87.

Darlene is survived by her husband Russell, daughters Sharon (Robert) Waters and Cindy (Bob) Daniels, niece Sheila Grafton, six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Ernie Lillie and sister Wilma Luing.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines with burial to follow at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 a.m.
