Dear Mr. and Mrs. Toulouse:
My name is Tom Howard, and I was Matt's RA at Luther during his freshman year. While we knew each other there, we'd lost ouch until I moved back to my hometown in southern WI, and saw Matt in the Janesville Menards store. We actually recognized each other immediately (I was known as Howie then), and saw each other often.
When I built my house, Matt had moved to Dubuque, but I called him, and ordered all of the initial wiring/etc. from him, which he sold me at sale prices : )
I stopped to see him once when I was headed through, but the next time he'd moved to Wyoming (I believe?), and we then lost touch.
One of my favorite memories of Matt was when he discovered Lake Geneva, WI - a resort city near us. On the basis of Lake Okobochi (?) in IA, he trademarked such names as 'Uni of Lake Geneva', and was going to sell them and start the same thing here as well. He moved, I believe, before it took off, but that was Matt . . . always thinking.
I apologize for the lateness of this - I only learned of Matt's passing through the Luther News, which I received today. Please know that he had many friends, and touched many lives in very positive ways during his life.
Please pass on my condolences to his children as well, and my sincerest best wishes to both of you.
Kind regards,
Tom Howard / Luther '81

It was hard to believe that Matt had passed from this life. It was tragic. We remember Matt growing up at church. We also saw him play football at East. Our hearts go out to Ted, Gail and the family.
