Kenneth N. Edwards

Kenneth Nelson Edwards, of Des Moines, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2013 at Fountain West with his loving family by his side. Kenneth was born on July 19, 1930 in Waterloo, Iowa to Hazel (Shaefer) and Hoyt K. Edwards.

Kenneth served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked for many years at Pirelli Armstrong Tire Company. Following his retirement, Kenneth repaired and sold lawn mowers. He enjoyed hunting, traveling, camping and spending time with his family and his dogs.

Kenneth leaves behind, his loving wife, Joanne; his daughter, Denise Nelson; grandson, Steven (Ami) Nelson; brothers, Robert (Esther) Edwards and Richard (Judy) Edwards; sister, Jane (Michael) Crivaro; several nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, November 15, 2013 with funeral services at 11 a.m. Friday at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Burial will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Iowa Veteran’s Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa.
