Patricia Beatrice Mireles

Patricia Beatrice Mireles, 90, died peacefully Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Trinity Center in Des Moines, surrounded by her family. Pat was born July 10, 1923 in Saltillo, Mexico to Andres and Gabriella Quijano and married Benito Mireles in 1946.

Pat retired from Meredith Corporation and was a charter member of the former Guadalupe Chapel and Our Lady of the Americas. She loved cooking special Mexican dishes as well as spending time with family and attending the Mexican dances.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Benny; parents; sister, Josephine Martinez; brothers, Frank, Isabel, Camillo, Nate and Alex Quijano.

She is survived by her sons, Marcus “Tubby” (Sharon), Joe from Des Moines and Alfred “Nokey” (Judi) from Urbandale; sister, Angie (Sal) Ayala from Des Moines; grandchildren, Melissa Gerber, Marie Myers, Maria Mireles-Barth, Natalie Thornberg, Marlena “Holly” Mireles, Michelle Mireles, Alicia Lynch, Andrew, Alan and Joseph Mireles; as well as 14 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Monday, November 4, 2013 at Our Lady of the Americas, 1271 E. 9th Street, Des Moines. Family will greet friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday with a rosary at 6 p.m. at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.
