Myrna D. Rasmussen

Myrna Rasmussen passed away Sunday, October 20, 2013, at the age of 86.

Myrna was born March 3, 1927, in Des Moines, Iowa. In her earlier years she worked in the cafeterias at Lucas Elementary School and East High School. Myrna later worked at Iowa Methodist Hospital in the Newborn Nursery, and headed a campaign to get rocking chairs in the nurseries. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be truly missed by all.

Myrna is survived by her three children: son, Dick (Carol) Rasmussen and daughters, Donnah (Mark) Barragan and Roberta Bassett; four grandchildren: grandsons, Rich, Mike, and Jim Rasmussen and granddaughter, Michelle Bassett; great granddaughter, Caitlyn Rasmussen; and loving brother-in-law, Jeff (Alice) Rasmussen.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 65 years, Bob and her brother, Veryl Gault.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 24, 2013, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 25, also at the funeral home, followed by interment at the Masonic Cemetery.
