Orrin Sinclair, 55, passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 in Des Moines, Iowa. He was born March 15, 1958 to Donna and George J. Sinclair.
Orrin had an interest in playing chess, fishing and working on cars. He enjoyed listening to music, especially the blues.
Orrin is survived by his son, Barry (Tisha) Sinclair; daughter, Jenise (Josh) Colyer; seven grandchildren; brother, Ron Sinclair and his sister, Amanda Stimatze. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City, Kansas.
In loving memory of Orrin, memorial contributions may be directed to Baxter Healthcare Center, 407 S East Avenue, Baxter, Iowa.

I don't know why, sometimes you just get a little nudge. I was watching a TV show and they were restoring a little wagon. I suddenly remembered the first friend I ever had. Orrin Sinclair. Garden City Kansas 1960. I was a year older. It is my earliest childhood memory. I ran outside and down the porch steps yelling "Orrin, Orrin, I'm 3! I'm 3! We played together every day. When his Dad died it traumatized all of us. It was so confusing. The police cars, the way the grown ups were acting. I think it's the first time I saw my mother cry. By the time I was in kindergarten we had moved. I never saw Orrin again. When I googled his name a row of pictures came up and I instantly picked him out. It was the shape of his face. I have no earthly idea what path you chose, but I hope it was a life well lived. I have a 7 year old daughter now, Hah!! I got a late start. I took my wife by the old house on 8th street once. It's like Thomas Wolfe said. "You can never go home." God bless you Orrin. The nudge came a little late.

I have thought of Orrin often and always with a smile. I can honestly say, as can many of my co-workers at Baxter Healthcare Center, that our lives are better for having known him. I will always remember our conversations and his gentle nature. He was always quick with a smile and a kind word. He talked of wanting to get back into a pool league when he discharged home, but was a bit anxious about being in a social situation that was outside of his comfort zone. We established a "safe word" that he could use if he felt overwhelmed and I would take him to play pool. Quite a few co-workers, our families and friends would join us. My husband, Shane, took an extra cue that he had for Orrin to play pool with. By the end of the night (the first of many!), Orrin had beat each and every one of us! He put the cue back in the case and handed it back to Shane - Shane looked at him and said, "nope, that's yours buddy." Orrin was speechless. Shane wanted to make sure Orrin had a league-worthy cue for him to play with once he was back home in Des Moines.
Chris Tipton, a volunteer who spent many a walk with Orrin, expressed her sorrow over learning that Orrin had passed. We all sat at coffee this morning and reminisced about how our lives changed when we all met him. Staff and residents alike want to let you know we are all thinking of you and you are in our thoughts and prayers.
Words cannot express our gratitude for naming us in regard to memorial contributions - what an honor. We will choose wisely on how that contribution is spent. Thank You!
