Melroy McMahon

Melroy D. McMahon was born July 31, 1930 in Manilla, IA to parents John and Mary McMahon. Melory was the youngest of seven children. He graduated from Manilla High School in 1949. He married Jean L. Davisson in 1957. They moved to Des Moines in 1959. Melroy was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church for many years. He retired from the State of Iowa in 1994. Melroy spent his retirement years volunteering at the House of Mercy and spending time with his grandchildren.
Melroy is survived by his beloved wife of almost 50 years, Jean; children, Roger (Mary Pat) of Des Moines, Colleen of Cleveland, OH and Mark (Maria) of Urbandale; grandchildren, Molly, Ryan, Daniel, Maire Kate, Grace, Gabe, Quinn, Connor, Moira, Kieran, Maggie, Meredith and Jack. All of whom he loved unconditionally.
Melroy demonstrated his Christian values daily by placing the needs of others ahead of his own. Even in death he demonstrated his generosity by donating his body to Des Moines University. A private service for the immediate family is planned. The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to Hospice of Central Iowa.
