Donald E. Miller, III, 23, passed away June 24, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. He was born January 3, 1990, in Des Moines, the son of Donald and Rhonda Miller.
DJ was funny, loved to laugh and was very outgoing. He enjoyed watching Smallville and was a hard worker. DJ was a great daddy, fiancé, and friend, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
DJ left behind the love of his life, Tara Mills; daughter, Tori Miller; and son, Austin Risdal; little brother, Alex Miller; mom and step-dad, Rhonda and Mike Scott; father, Donald Miller, II; half-brother, Rusty Stark; half-sister, Stephanie Miller; grandparents, Alan and Vicki Johannsen and Rick and Nancy Walker; mother-in-law, Marsha Briggs; brothers-in-law, Tanner Mills and Trent Mills; and many other friends and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his brother, Justin Michael Miller.
A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, June 28, 2013, at Hamilton’s Mitchellville Funeral Home, 303 Center Street.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of DJ.

So deeply sorry to hear of Dj's passing away. I had many oppurtunities to talk with him. He was a proud father, liked his work and life was becoming very good for him. He was proud of his accomplishments of school and employment. I do not understand why young people pass away and God leaves the old and feeble to suffer.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Dj brought a lot of joy to my family. He has been such a blessing in our lives and he will be greatly missed by us all! We all were so proud of him for all that he accomplished and we are so lucky to have his son and daughter to carry on that awesome Dj personality! It is so hard to understand why God takes such a young life but there is comfort in knowing he is at peace. Rest In Peace Dj! We will never forget you!

My sincerest sympathy goes out to the friends and family of Donald. Losing a loved one is such a difficult thing to deal with, all the more so when they are so young. As time goes by, you will begin to realize that as you think of his smiles, his love of his family, his laughter, the pain will have diminished a bit and you'll find yourself smiling again. I didn't know him personally but, having lost someone dear to me, I can empathize with the pain you are experiencing. What comfort such scriptures as John 5:28,29 brought me! You will read there about the promise Jesus gave of resurrecting our loved ones back to life. When he resurrected His friend Lazarus back to life ( John 11:38-44 ) He showed his ability and desire to fulfill that promise. Can you just imagine the joy Lazarus' sisters felt when they held him in their arms once again? This joy we too will feel in the very near future. Until that day comes, we have the promise that God will draw close to those whose hearts have been broken ( Psalms 34:18 ) I truly hope these few scriptures have helped lessen the pain you feel as they had mine.
