Walter Michael King

Walter Michael “Mike” King died May 28, 2013. He developed Alzheimer’s in 2009 and fought the disease with valor and dignity.
Walter was born April 19, 1944 in Newton, Iowa to Ernest and Ninah King. He enjoyed running his own businesses including King Trading Company, Midwest Trading & Loan, Thunderwood Resort and Wolfhaven Trading Post. Walter loved music; playing many instruments and writing songs. He owned over 200 cars in his life and often dreamed of creating an American Landmark. He loved fishing and a good treasure hunt.
Walter is preceded in death by his grandson, Makenzie Alexander Logsdon. He is survived by his brother, Steven; sisters, Marlena and Leanah; daughters, Kimberly, Robin and Michelle; son, Michael; seven grandchildren: Nicole, Joseph, Alexis, Katherine, Charles, Leslie and Hassan; and two great-grandchildren: Matthew and Mackenzie Kimberly.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 3:00 pm at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway in West Des Moines with visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers please direct donations to the Alzheimer’s Foundation in memory of Walter King.

I also knew Mike for MW Trading and the White House. He was always fun to be around. He now has the peace he deserves.

Wow !! I just find it so hard to believe that Mike King has passed away ! I dealt with Mike often at MW Trading in WDM and he was always very fair and a real gentleman !! Mike had a great sense of humor and we often traded jokes and humorous stories !! My most sincere condolences extends to his family Rest in Peace, Mike, as you will be missed !! Best PJC
