Janice Kay (Carothers) Wheeler, 73, of Carlisle, Iowa, died peacefully at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines on May 14, 2013, after a brief illness. She was born on March 5, 1940, in Corning, Iowa, to the late Thelma Evelyn (Lee) and Mahlon Willis Carothers. She attended schools in Adams County, Iowa, and graduated from Corning High School in 1957.

Jan married Maurice Wendell "Bud" Pollock of College Springs, Iowa, on March 17, 1957. They had two children. Mr. Pollock was a telegraph operator for the Chicago and North Western Railway in Stanton, Iowa. He preceded her in death on Sept. 8, 1965. Jan moved to Des Moines in 1974, and worked in several companies as an administrative assistant. She retired from RBC Dain Rauscher in 2008.

She is survived by her son, Michael Pollock and wife, Andrea, of Carlisle, Iowa; her daughter, Janelle Pollock and husband, Dominique Le Gall, of La Boisse, France; her granddaughter, Maddie Le Gall of La Boisse, France; her grandson, Nicholas Conner and wife, Susan, of Altoona, Iowa; her grandson, Joshua Conner and wife, Erica, of Grimes, Iowa; her great-grandsons Jack and Henry Conner of Altoona, Iowa; her brother, Mahlon Carothers and wife, Evelyn, of Council Bluffs, Iowa; two nieces; two nephews; numerous cousins; and her dog, cats and horses. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Ann (Carothers) Talmage on Dec. 8, 2000.

Hamilton's Funeral Home is in charge of cremation. A private burial will be held at a later date.
