Fredrick M. Elliott, 74, passed away on May 3, 2013. He was born to Mark L. and Helen B. Elliott on October 16, 1938, in Perry, Iowa.

Fred graduated from Dawson High School. He was a United States Air Force Veteran.

Fred married Mary Julia Bell (deceased 1967) at Edwards Air Force Base, CA, on March 29, 1959, and then married Cathy E. Galivan, August 3, 1968. He worked at Oscar Meyer Company for 25 years, and then the Country Store in Jamaica, IA, for 13 years.

Fred had a passion for collecting and building scaled-down models of planes, trains, automobiles, and ships. He loved going to his digs for treasures. He took pleasure gardening and enjoyed reading about history.

He would say, “Rock n Roll ain’t dead till Fred said and Fred ain’t said 93.3 FM” and “Every day is a good day; some are just better than others.” He was very sociable and loved to talk to people. He never knew a stranger. He would always say to people going, “So long sports fans.”

Fred is preceded in death by his two brothers, David Elliott and Gary Elliott.

Fred is survived by his wife, Cathy of Jamaica, IA; children, Lisa Elliott of Yakima, WA, Gerri Gonzalez of Madrid, IA, Kimberely (Marty) Joppa of Bellevue, NE, David Elliott of Jamaica, and Kelly (Andy) Smith of Perry, IA; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Karen) Elliott of Waterloo, IA; sister-in-law, Sharon Elliott of Jamaica; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a Memorial Luncheon held at the Jamaica Community Building on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at noon. All are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Jamaica Community Building, P.O. Box 83, Jamaica, Iowa 50128.
