Esther Johnson

Esther Johnson, 93, died Monday, January 21, 2013, at her daughter’s home. She was born October 13, 1919, in Pasadena, CA, to Burr Sears and Gladys Westlake.

Esther was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who used her many talents to bless others. Esther was a member of Vine Street Gospel Chapel founded by her parents. Above all, she loved the Lord and was a woman of great faith.

Esther is survived by her children, Sharon Hanke, Cynthia Evans, Patricia (Paul) Gwinnup, Barbara (Brad) Ewest, Janice (Ned) Johnston, Susan (Kevin) Trembly; 26 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren with two on the way; siblings, Miriam Fuson, John Westlake, Imogene Bedwell, Paul Westlake, and David Westlake; sister-in-law, MajBritt Hadsall; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell; sister, Lois Wright; and grandson, Solomon Hanke.

Funeral services will be noon, Friday, January 25, 2013, at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway, with burial at Glendale Cemetery. Friends may visit with family from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
