Lester L. Morris, 78, passed away Friday, November 23, 2012, at the home he built in Elkhart. Lester was born August 4, 1934, to Leo Arthur Morris and Reva Miller Morris, in rural Clarke County.
Les worked for Swift Soybean Co. and Masssey Ferguson in Des Moines for a number of years, before starting his own company (Morris Trenching) in 1976. Les loved his family, his friends, his town, his dog Buddy, and his work.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ruth; two daughters, Edith (Pete) Falls of Springville, CA, and Julie (Gary) Parisho of New Virginia, IA; one son, Tony (Kay) Morris of Maxwell, IA; grandchildren, Shawna, Brendan, Dawna, Shannon, Nina, and Rease; great-grandchildren, Breyen, Tyler, and Riley; his brother, Merrill of Des Moines; sister, Mary Lou (Clayton) Waterbury of Sergeant Bluffs, IA; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Edc and Mabel; brother, David; and one great-grandson, Bodey.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at Elkhart Christian Church, 252 NW Washington Avenue in Elkhart. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, at Elkhart Christian Church, with burial to follow at Elkhart Cemetery.

The Greenwood Family is so sorry for the loss of such an incredible man. I have listend to my Husband, Mike and my Father in Law, Jim, talk of what a great person Lester was and what a great friend. Lester will be missed by so many. I always enjoyed talking with him whenever he came to get parts for his Case backhoe. He was a most gracious and liked customer. My condolences to Ruth, Tony, and all the family.
