Alfred Chiodo

Alfred Chiodo, 91, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center, surrounded by his family. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, November 14, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m., Thursday, November 15, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5711 SW 9th Street, with entombment following at Resthaven Mausoleum.

Alfred was born January 3, 1921, in Soveria Manelli, Italy. He married Anna Gillotti on December 8, 1946. He served with the U.S. Army in Korea. He was the owner of City Construction Co. and retired from the City of Des Moines. He was a member of the American Legion Belizzi Macrae Post 659 and Club of Italian Americans.

Alfred is survived by his wife, Anna; children, Fred, Angela (Gary) Wilson, and Kathy; grandchildren Aron (Lisa), Garrett, Talia (Ryan) Chaffee, Jake (Debbie), Jimmy, Jeff, and Alec; a great grandchild, Luna; and sister, Maria Stella Marasco. He was preceded in death by his parents Natale and Maria Francesca, and his brothers, Frank and Mike.
