George Louis Wosmansky, 64, passed away September 28, 2012, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, after a long and courageous battle with leukemia. He was born June 11, 1948, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Florence and Aloysius Wosmansky.

George was a special education teacher and coach. He retired from Perry High School in 2010 after 24 years. He retired from Youth Homes of Mid America in 2011 after 22 years of service. George’s passion in life was his family, his grandchildren’s activities, his love of teaching, history, painting, and coaching football and track. He was also an Eagle Scout.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Barbara A. Wosmansky (Buckley); sons, Matthew, Kevin (Molly), and Scott Wosmansky; siblings, Dr. Ann (Doug) Collins and Richard (Caryle) Wosmansky; grandchildren, Noah, Reagan, Adelyn, and Jillian Wosmansky; his brothers-in-law, Bill (Carol) Buckley and Robert (Jackie) Buckley). He was preceded in death by his parents, and mother and father-in-law, Joe and Donna Buckley.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 4114 Allison Avenue in Des Moines, followed by burial at Sunny Hill Cemetery in Grimes. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines.
