William “Bill” D. Dunkerson, 50, passed away at his home Friday, September 28, 2012.
Bill was born September 6, 1962, in Des Moines, to Dale and Patricia Dunkerson. He was a life-long Des Moines resident and graduated from Tech High School. Bill owned and operated AutoWear for 24 years. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed barbecues, camping, fireworks, and spending time with his family. Bill was a member of the Isaac Walton League.
Bill is survived by his children, Jessica Schroeder, Jake Dunkerson, and Amber (Nathaniel Coltrain) Dunkerson; grandson, Carter; siblings, Karen Devard, Jean (Ron) Peterson, and Marsha (David) Sharp; and his wife, Pam; step-mother, Jo Dunkerson; step-brother, Bill (Barb) Kenworthy; and step-sisters, Debbie (Larry) Leslie and Kathy (Scott) Holland. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his mother-in-law, Jean Marino.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m.

We will always remember Bill as being the Wild and crazy guy. He sure enjoyed his outdoor activities with his family and friends. :)

Your family was always so kind to my grandpa, Glen "Whitey" Tomlinson. He told of us Bill's frequent visits to check on him and sit and visit a while. Whitey was very fond of Bill. Jessica, you were Whitey's angel on earth as you cared for him daily, doing the little things that he couldn't do on his own. People like you have a special place in Heaven, and I'm sure Bill is smiling down upon all of you.

It's moments like this when I wish I was more eloquent with my words. I spent a few years when I was growing up next door to the Dunkersons...Jake, Amber, and Jessie were so young. I am saddened to hear that the three of you have lost your father at such a young age. Pam, Jessie, Jake, and Amber...my whole family holds you close to our hearts today.

RIP, Bill. You will be missed every day. It seems so unfair that your light was blown out so suddenly.

I love you so much, and I miss you! I remember all the hunting trips we went on, and I enjoyed working with you for a couple years. I have so many great memories.
