Service Details
Russell Sparks, 68, died Sunday, September 2, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. He was born May 19, 1944,in Des Moines, son of Clyde and Velma (Smith) Sparks.
Russell retired from Dart in 2006 after 33 years of service. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, and riding his motorcycle.
Russell is survived by his wife, Linda Sparks of 47 years; his three children, Michelle (James) Neer of Des Moines, Russell Sparks Jr. (Christina) of Pleasant Hill, and Rick (Nicole) Sparks of Des Moines; 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; his sister, Judith of Lovilla, Iowa; step-mother, MaryAnn Sparks of Des Moines and half sisters, Gail Sparks and Cindy Sparks, both of Des Moines.
The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, September 6, 2012, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue. Graveside services will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 7, 2012, at Pine Hill Cemetery in Des Moines.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Russell.

It was a pleasure to work with Russ while he was at the bus company. He was fun to work with and swap stories with. I am thankful to have been friends with him. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.
