James Reynolds

Jim entered the gates of Heaven on Monday, July 30, 2012, surrounded by his family. He was born February 21, 1937, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Floyd and Dorothy Reynolds. He was a lifelong resident of Des Moines and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1956. Jim served in the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1960. He then started his printing career with Meredith Corporation, which lasted over 30 years.

Jim met his wonderful wife Darlene in 1959 on a blind date. He married her in 1961 and started his life journey to include two children, Diane Sue (Todd) Roorda and Randall James, and four grandchildren: Adam and Aaron Roorda, and James and Nicholas Reynolds. Jim is also survived by his sisters Catherine Stevenson and Judith Holsinger.

Jim enjoyed his life to the fullest. He spent many hours tinkering with his latest and greatest car, following his daughter around the country watching her play softball, and raising his youngest grandchildren to be wonderful young men. Spending time on the lake and boating with family and friends kept him busy many summers. Jim enjoyed movie going with his son, grandsons, and his long-time friend, Dick Talarico. They would not miss seeing the next big blockbuster together.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 3, 2012, at 1 p.m., at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, with a visitation period two hours prior to the service. Memorials may be directed to American Heart Association.
