Carolyn Deaton

Carolyn, known by her family and friends as Joan, was 73 at the time of her death. She was born to John (Gerald) and Ada Deaton. Joan was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and a member of Watrous Terrace Congregation, and just celebrated the 38th anniversary of her baptism on June 21. One of her greatest joys was to serve as a regular pioneer for two years. She loved to read the Bible and was an encyclopedia of knowledge of Bible truths, and could talk about it for hours at a time right up to the end of her life. She will be greatly missed by all of her spiritual family and fleshly family.

Joan is survived by her only child, Lorna Danley of Des Moines; her brothers, Jack (Diane) Deaton and John Deaton, both from Des Moines; her sisters, Janet Deaton, Sharon Deaton, and Linda (Steve) Jefferson, also from Des Moines; and a host of nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ada Deaton, and brothers, James Deaton and Jeffrey Deaton.

Joan’s memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at 6:30 p.m., at the Watrous Terrace Kingdom Hall, 420 SE Watrous Avenue in Des Moines, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
