Millard E. Berkley, 79, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.
Millard was born June 18, 1933, in Newton, Iowa, to Roscoe and Margaret (Scott) Berkley. He proudly served in the U.S. Army. During his service in the Korean Conflict, he received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal, and was exemplary in the skill of sharp shooting. Millard farmed most of his life in the Mingo area and traveled the nation as a truck driver for many years.
He enjoyed reminiscing about his time served in Germany, debating politics and world events, and spending time with his grandkids.
Millard is survived by his children, Theresa (Don) Schweitzer, Kimberly (Ron) Ollerich, Justin (Michelle) Berkley, and Joshua (Amanda) Berkley.
He is also survived by his nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister.
A memorial service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa.

I always enjoyed visiting with Uncle Millard, His memories of the past that he passed on to me are dear to my heart. We've lost the last one with contact to our grandmothers past. My condolences to Teri, Kim, Justin and Josh.

So sorry to hear of your Father's passing...was over to see him a
few times while he was at Methodist. I have memories of him and my Dad drinking coffee at the kitchen table...Your Mom
loading all of you kids in her car like little ducks...and Joshua and Justin coming to my home for Daycare...the years have flown, but your friendship is always dear
to our hearts...God Bless and take care...if you are ever our way we are still on Mountain sourth of Ira and love to have company...May your Dad rest in peace...and may your memories sustain you all until you meet again.....
