Kevin Kong
June 18, 2012
Kevin Chrisna Kong was taken from this life much too soon on June 18, 2012. Kevin entered this life on June 13, 1995, and into the arms of his loving parents, Sokha and Chhoum Chea-Kong.
Kevin lived and enjoyed his life to the absolute fullest. He cherished his friends and his family. He loved helping others and most of all he LOVED basketball. He played with enthusiasm and pride. His greatest accomplishment was making the Lincoln Varsity team. He not only worked hard at excelling at basketball but also on being a great team member. He was loved and admired by all who knew him, and he will forever be missed.
Those left to cherish his memory are his parents, Sokha and Chhoum; his brother, Alvin; his grandparents, Samang and Sady Kong and Chhoeuth Chhan; his aunts, Sophear Chea and Devi Kong-Lundquise; his uncles, Andy Kong and Jefferson Lundquist; his cousins, Raksmei and Sonja Lundquist; along with many other loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 23, 2012, at the Round House at the Lincoln High Main Campus. He will be laid to rest at Elm Grove Cemetery immediately following the service. Family will greet friends from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 22, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Kevin.

With heartfelt sympathy we express our innermost sadness for your loss. May you find comfort in God's inspired words at 1 Corinthians 1:3,4. God is very near to us when we are crushed in spirit, in tears, and downhearted. Please allow God's spirit to encompass your heart and as a family stay close to one another. God made a promise at Revelation 21:3,4 to soon remove all tears, mourning and yes, even death. How we look forward to that time.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family... On a more personal note...
Kevin, you are my brother, friend and hero. Thanks for having my back and encouraging me to never give up. Your word of encouragement is the reason I was selected to be athlete of the year. I'm honored to have had you as a friend and am secure knowing you will continue to watch over me. You are and will always be "MY" athlete of the year. Southside Pride Forever!
Kevin- An infectious smile, a glowing spirit, an honorary captain, a life never forgotten...

Chhoum-though I never met your son I feel like I did because of the stories we shared about our boys while working together. I am so sorry for your loss and I hope that you can all find strength and comfort through family, friends and faith.

Your family is in my prayers, I am so very sorry for your loss. My son knew Kevin and the first words out of his mouth when he heard this tragic news was, "mom, Kevin was the nicest guy, so fun, and so full of life." He will be missed by all of his friends. As a parent of a three, one of them a senior who just graduated, I cannot imagine your loss. You have love and hugs from all of the community and from all at Lincoln High School.

We are so deeply saddened and grieve with you over the loss of your Son / Grandson Kevin. When we first heard the news, my mind raced back to when our 3 yr. old grandson Jacob went home to be with the Lord. I pray you receive the same comfort & strength that carried us through the grieving process; a comfort & strength that only comes from God.
The psalmist writes in Psalm116: 15 "Precious in the sight of the Lord are the death of His godly ones."
Know that you are being prayed for.
