Linda Vaughn

Linda Diane Vaughn, 62, went home to the Lord on Saturday, May 5, 2012, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.

Linda was born on March 13, 1950, in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was the first born of eight children to Mrs. Henrietta Johnson. Linda went to school in Los Angeles, California. After graduation from high school, Linda moved to Casper, Wyoming, for a short time, then to Des Moines, Iowa. She met and married the love of her life, Mr. Charles Vaughn.

Linda worked in the nursing field, which she loved and enjoyed, for over twenty five years. Linda’s pride and joy was her immediate family. Her greatest pride was her grandchildren.

Her welcoming spirit and warm personality were given to her family and friends, always. Linda served as the matriarch of her family. She was quick to comfort people without passing judgment. She always welcomed people to her home. She rendered infinite wisdom and forgiveness to others because she had a warm heart.

Linda leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Charles Vaughn; two sons, Robert Anderson, Jr. (Khali Rasheed) from Minneapolis and Derek Anderson from Des Moines; mother, Henrietta Johnson; aunt, Gloria Jean DeValt of Los Angeles; seven sisters, Jaunita Randle, Bobbie (Ted) Harrison, Kathleen (Earl) Grant, Paula Deemer, Patricia Floyd and Cheryl Ann Willis, all from Los Angeles and Deborah Randle from Atlanta; a host of grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and Godmother, Catherine Talton.

Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m., Saturday, May 12, 2012, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Linda.
