Violet A. Blanquart, 89, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. She was born September 19, 1922 in Warren County, Iowa, to Joseph and Mary (Williams) Bertrand.
Violet was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Des Moines for many years until moving to Ankeny, where she was a devoted member of Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Catholic Church.
Violet is survived by her daughter, Donna (Jim) Finney; two grandchildren, Julie (Ken) Baker and Jeff (Jennifer) Finney; four great-grandchildren, Bailey and Barrett Baker, Noah and Paige Finney; nephews, Gary (Lois) Patterson, Dennis (Jackie) Patterson, Bill (Carolyn) Baddeley, and Brent (Cheryl) Baddeley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; companion, Harold Deaton; sisters, Zelma Patterson and Evelyn Baddeley.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, April 8, 2012, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m., with the family present an hour prior to service time, Monday at Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Catholic Church, 510 E. 1st Street in Ankeny, with burial at Glendale Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Catholic Church or Mill Pond in loving memory of Violet.

We were sad to hear of Vi's passing today. I had just wrote to her and sent an Easter card as I had been thinking about her and had Mom been alive she would have been worrying about getting a card out to Vi. I have never met a kinder, sweeter woman than Vi. Mom thought the world of Frank and Vi and Vi was one of the last of the old timers from that era. When Mom was ill she was so happy to call Vi and visit, it meant a lot to her. In highest regard-The Anderson Family

Our deepest sympathy in the loss of Vi. I have such fond memories of living next door on East 29th and having Vi and Frank next door. I remember the last time I saw Vi and I cried because she reminded me so much of Meme. I so enjoyed visiting with her and always loved her house. Mom was so fond of Vi and I remember how hard it was last May to make that phone call to Vi and let her know Mom had passed. I know Mom was there on the other side to hug her when she passed over. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Love and hugs to evryone. Gail and family.
