Judy Wilson
February 15, 2012
Judy Wilson, 67, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at her home in Altoona. Judy’s wishes were to be cremated. The family will have services at a later date.
Judith Ann King was born January 12, 1945, in Worth County, Missouri, to Eldon and Mary (Phillips) King. She grew up there and graduated from Grant City School before receiving her Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Education from Northwest Missouri State.
On June 13, 1963, Judy was united in marriage to Galen Wilson. The couple moved to Irwin, Iowa, after Judy received her degree and worked as a teacher. In 1978 they moved to Altoona, which they have called home since. Judy was very active in fund raising across Iowa, bookkeeping for churches, and working as a waitress for Union 76, Fireside, and later owning Judy’s Family Dining with her daughter, Amy.
Judy was an avid reader, enjoyed planning parties, writing, and cooking meals for the family. Mostly she loved spending time with Galen and her family.
Judy is survived by her husband of 48 years, Galen; children, Todd (Julie) Wilson, and Amy (Jason) Campbell; grandchildren, Sam, Nathan, Nina, Nicolai, McKenzie, Lillian, and Holden; siblings, Marvin (Corina) King, Dale (Kathy) King, and Larry King; close friends, John and Deb Booth, and Charles and Joleen Weller; and many nieces, nephews, and friends that became family. She was preceded in death by her parents; and an infant son, Jeffery.

My deepest sympathies to the family. Judy was my Home-Ec teacher in 1971-1972 in Irwin. Have many special memories with her and having my first experience with her showing us how to make a quilt and to liquid embroidery paint. I still have that quilt and have done many since then. God's Blessings to you.

Galen,
I only was around Judy a couple of times but I instantly felt her warmth and humor. I remember that we sat on lawn chairs in Todd and Julie's back yard for Lilly's birthday. She said to me, "My name is Judy and you are Bonnie; tell me about yourself." It was fun chatting with her that day.
I m so sorry for your loss. I am glad that you have many wonderful memories to keep her alive in your heart. God bless you.
Bonnie Martin Julie's mother.

Many years ago, Judy and I worked together at the Arthritis Foundation. Those were happy days of congenial co-workers and volunteers. I was surprised to learn of her passing and am very sorry for your sad loss.
