Virginia Martin

Virginia E. Martin, 71, passed away December 31, 2011, at Taylor House. She was born April 2, 1940, in Des Moines, to William and Mamie Martin. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1959. Virginia worked as a machine operator for 33 years at Reese Association. She lived on the south side of Des Moines all her life, and spent time working in her yard, gardening, shopping, watching movies, and she loved animals.

Virginia is survived by her brother, Kenneth Martin; sister-in-law, Peggy Martin; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, January 5, 2012, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Family will greet friends Wednesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League or Taylor House Hospice in loving memory of Virginia.
