Sophie Maria Case

Sophia Case, 99, passed away Monday, December 26, 2011, at Valley View Village.

Sophia was born March 15, 1912, in Vilas, South Dakota, to George and Lena Husmann. She lived in Bouton, Iowa, before moving to Des Moines in 1936. Sophia retired from the State of Iowa, Department of Transportation in 1977, after 35 years of service.

Sophia is survived by her nieces and nephews and many beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Case.

The family will greet friends from 4 to 5 p.m., Friday, December 30, 2011, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 31, 2011, at Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry, Iowa. A Celebration of Sophia’s Life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Valley View Village, 2571 Guthrie Ave.nue
