On October 13, 2011, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s lost another battle when Wilma slipped from their chains into the hands of her Lord and Savior.

Wilma Arlene Auxier was the fifth child born to Guy Earl and Mable (Helt) Auxier. She was born on a farm near Allerton, Wayne County, Iowa. Wilma grew up a farm girl in Wayne and Lucas counties. On April 17, 1949, she eloped to Des Moines with William (Bill) McCullough. They were married for 53 years before his passing in 2002. To their union were born two sons and two daughters. Wilma was a wife, mother and homemaker. She was a member of Clifton Heights Presbyterian Church.

Those left to rejoice in her homegoing are sons, Harry (Janice) McCullough and Larry (Sheryl) McCullough; daughters, Sharon McCullough and Carol (John) Cernetisch; grandsons, Ryan McCullough, Aaron (Charlotte) McCullough, Brandon Cernetisch and Travis Cernetisch; granddaughter, Anna Cernetisch; great-granddaughters, Madison and Catherine McCullough; and another great-grandchild on the way!; sisters in-law, Wilma (Leslie) Auxier, Virginia (Maurice) Auxier, Joan (Arnie) Lambert and Joan (Jim) McCullough-Hilzer; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William McCullough.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, October 17, 2011, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street with a funeral service to begin at 6 p.m. A burial will be held at a later date in Garden Grove, Iowa.
