Donald A. Davis

Donald A. Davis, 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Sunday, August 28, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. He was born March 24, 1928, in Prairie City, Iowa, to Harold and Violet (Eshelman) Davis.

Don was Vice President of Operations and Co-Owner of Western International for 34 years before retiring.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Jean; sons, Jerry (Kathy) Davis and Gary (Karen) Davis; daughter, Kris Davis Partridge; siblings, Harris Davis, David Shafer, Paul Shafer and Ruth Ann Bartlet; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday, September 1, 2011, at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW, with burial to follow at the Altoona Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League in loving memory of Don.
