Connie E. (Rushing) Comer

Connie (Rushing) Comer passed away July 8, 2011, at the Pleasant Care Living Center in Pleasantville, IA, after a lengthy illness. Connie was born on May 15, 1932 in Cordova, IA.

Family will greet friends from 12 to 2 p.m., on Wednesday, July 13, 2011, with a funeral service to begin at 2 p.m., at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street in Des Moines. Burial will follow at the Blakesburg Cemetery in Blakesburg, IA.

Connie worked as a Nursing Assistant at the VA Hospital from 1978 until her retirement in 2006. She loved her job and especially loved providing care for the veterans.

Connie is survived by her two sisters, Teddy Jenkins of Pulaski, IA, and Susie Schlampp of Knoxville, IA; step-daughter, Janet Miller of Fairfield, IA; numerous step-grandchildren; five nieces and two nephews.

Connie was preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband, Virble, step-son, Lloyd, step-grandaughter, Debra, and nephew, Trenton.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League in memory of Connie.
