Jack Waggoner
July 07, 2011
Jack Miles Waggoner, 89, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2011, surrounded by his family.
Jack was born December 4, 1921, in Moulton, IA. He worked the Wabash Railroad, at a family gas station, and then joined the Army in 1942. Jack served in WWII and was a proud member of Merrill’s Marauders. In 1945, he married Colleen Lucille Stober. They had two children, Allen and Judy. He lost his beloved Colleen in 1954.
Jack moved his family to Des Moines in 1955, and worked as maintenance at Williams Pipeline. He spent 35 years there, and retired in 1984. After retiring he traveled to Branson, MO, and took a few fishing trips. He loved spending time with his granddaughters Jamie and Jennifer and eventually with his four great-grandchildren. Jack enjoyed attending Merrill’s Marauders reunions, the Iowa State Fair, walking, fishing, visiting family and friends, and lending a helping hand.
Jack is survived by his son, Allen (Coral) Waggoner; daughter, Judy C. Lindberg; grandchildren, Jamie (David) Morawski, Jennifer Howe (David Horton), Bridgette McLemore and Craig McLemore; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Colleen.

Jamie,
I am so sorry for the loss of your grandpa. What a wonderful and special person he was. I am sure your heart is breaking and I am keeping you in my prayers. I was going to come to the visitation tonight but I walked at lunch and got all hot and sweaty so I am sure you would not like to hug me. If there is anything I can do to ease your suffering, I will do it.
