Nathan Schnur
March 10, 2011
Nathaniel William Schnur, known to us as Nathan, left us on March 10, 2011, after a short, intense battle with cancer. He was 27 years old.
Nathan was born in Ames, Iowa on April 18, 1983. He grew up in Colo, Iowa and resided in Ankeny, Iowa, with his wife Jenni and two dogs, Lucy and Zoey. He was a 2001 graduate of Colo-Nesco High School, then went on to ISU. After earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Agronomy from Iowa State University in 2008, he was employed by Pioneer Hi-Bred International in Johnston, Iowa. He had been planning to return to earn his Masters in Plant Physiology when he became sick. Nathan enjoyed working, computer programming, storm chasing, fishing, running the combine, hunting, playing with Lucy and Zoey, watching hockey, playing bass guitar and spending time with his many friends and wife Jenni. Nathan and Jenni married in Ankeny, surrounded by friends and family, in Ankeny, Iowa, on November 20, 2010. Nathan amused his friends with his sarcastic humor. He will be greatly missed among all who knew him.
Nathan is survived by his wife, Jenni Schnur of Ankeny, two brothers Matthew Schnur and Jacob Schnur (Kelsey McLarnan) also of Ankeny, Father William Schnur of Colo, Grandmother Margaret Schnur of Colo, many friends who loved him dearly in Iowa and elsewhere, and finally Zoey and Lucy, who he loved like children.
Nathan was predeceased by his Mother, Lois Schnur (November 2009) and his grandfather, Ralph Schnur.
There will be a visitation Sunday, March 13, 2011, at 1 p.m. at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 121 NW 60th Avenue, followed immediately by a memorial service at 2 p.m.
Please address any memorial contributions to Nathan’s wife, Jenni. She plans
on making donations in his name.

I could always count on Nathan to provide humor in any situation. He was witty, and totally without malice, always willing to help me when I asked. I was glad to get to know him, and I'll remember his gifts and talents and how unique a person he truly was.
