Robert Duane Witter

Robert Duane Witter, 76, passed away on Monday, November 15, 2010. Services will be at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines, IA with visitation on Thursday, November, 18 from 5 to 7 p.m. and the funeral on Friday, November 19 at 11 a.m.

Robert was born on January 15, 1934 in Newell, IA to Charlotte (Zemke) and Ed W. Witter. He graduated from Newell High School and worked as a truck driver and truck mechanic until retiring in 1989. He lived most recently in Clive, IA but had also lived in Missouri. He married Caroline on February 5, 1976 and they had many happy years together until her death in 1999.

He had many hobbies including reading western novels, watching auto racing and the Chicago Cubs and Hawkeyes, but his most favorite was listening to the police scanner.

Robert will be greatly missed by his family; step-daughter, Sue (Steve) Artwein, step-son, Rick (Kathy) Stammer, and step-daughter, Doreen (Brad) Puchta; brother, Charles; 11 step-grandchildren and 19 great-step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Caroline, his parents and a brother.
