Lawrence Wilson

Lawrence Hugh Wilson, 73, passed away on February 22, 2021 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa on November 8, 1947, the first son to Lawrence and Marie (Griffith) Wilson.

Lawrence graduated from Des Moines Tech in 1965. He worked on cars his entire life. Lawrence opened Wilson Rod shop in 1990 which he owned until 2015. After retiring, he continued to work on cars. Every Saturday Lawrence would get together with “the Breakfast Club” to see the cars everyone was working on. He loved watching drag racing and his beloved cats over the years. Lawrence also enjoyed visiting family.

Lawrence is survived by his brother, Don (Susan) Wilson of Des Moines; niece, Danielle Wilson of Arizona; nephews, Donald (Andrea) Wilson of Johnston, and Michael Wilson of Des Moines; as well as a host of great-nieces and nephews. Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Marie (Griffith) Wilson.
