James Jeffrey Lindsey, age 72 of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday February 21, 2021. He was born June 27th, 1948 to Ward and Delores Lindsey.
Jim graduated from Des Moines Tech High School in 1967 and resided in Des Moines his entire life.
He proudly served in the Army during the Vietnam War from March of 1968 to December of 1969 where he spent 1,200 hours on a Chinook helicopter. Jim received medals which include National Defense Service medal, Army Commendation medal, Army Good Conduct medal, and the Vietnam Service and Campaign medals. Dad was a strong patriot who loved his country.
Jim was a lead pressman for R.R. Donnelley Printing Company for 34 years, thereafter, did custodial work for the Des Moines Public Schools until his retirement. He was a hard worker and provider for his family.

Jim was an avid outdoorsman and found happiness in the simple things in life. His kids have many fond memories sitting around a backyard campfire, watching thunderstorms roll in, cruising country roads, and enjoying God’s creation together. Jim loved being near the water jet skiing, kayaking, and fishing mostly at Saylorville Lake or the Des Moines River and traveling to Bull Shoals Lake and the White River in Arkansas. He enjoyed classic cars, 4-wheeling adventures in his CJ Jeeps, and getting out on the open road on his Harley.
Dad loved the Lord and his strong Christian faith carried him through life until he was called home to be with Him.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Ward Lindsey. He is survived by his mother, Delores Lindsey, children, Sarah Lindsey, Brian Lindsey, Brooke (Jesse) Bales, the mother of his children, Diana Lindsey, grandchildren, Caleb and Emma Lindsey, Uriah and Isaiah Bales, brothers, Dan, Gary, and Greg Lindsey, further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving honor of Jim.
