Jimmy L. Wilson, 70, AKA “Wilson”, of Mitchellville, Iowa passed away February 15, 2021 in Des Moines, Iowa.

Jimmy was born to Elmer and Edith (Jones) Wilson on August 2, 1950 in Des Moines, Iowa. He went to Southeast Polk High School where he graduated in the class of 1968. After high school, Jimmy went into the U. S. Navy. He was military police and an aviation technician on the USS Enterprise, serving in Vietnam. He was stationed in California, then Tennessee until 1978. He then moved to New Virginia, Iowa briefly before becoming basically a life-long resident of Des Moines, Iowa. He worked for the U. S. Post Office for a number of years, then held a variety of jobs.

Jimmy was an avid darts player and loved playing on leagues and in tournaments. He went to and won numerous city championships over the years. He enjoyed bike riding, finding four leaf clovers, and being outside. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. But nothing more than his grandsons and his fur-baby grandson.

Jimmy his survived by his daughter, Jennifer (Wayne) Daniels of Mitchellville; his brother, Lonnie (Judy) Wilson of Chariton; three grandsons, Andrew and Connor Daniels of Mitchellville and Dakota Weller of Des Moines; two great-grandsons, Paul of Mitchellville and Everette of Des Moines; one fur-grandson, Rocky (his best lil buddy); as well as many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Edith Wilson; his daughter, Julie Wilson; two brothers and one sister.

Jimmy was cremated and no services will be held at this time due to Covid. The family will be having a celebration of life at a later date. There will also be a service at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter.
