Amy "Doodle" (Craig) Rice

Amy “Doodle” (Craig) Rice, 35, walked away from her courageous battle with cancer and gained her angel wings on January 20, 2021.

Amy was born October 2, 1985 in Des Moines, Iowa. After, attending school at Lincoln she went on to college at La’James. She married Duston Rice on September 28, 2013.

She enjoyed shopping and doing hair but above all, she cherished time spent with her family. Amy was amazing at talking smack but would be the first to be there to lift someone up!

Amy is survived by her husband, Duston Rice; children, Addyson, Talyn and Knoxyn; mother, Dana Craig; grandmother, Mary Thacker; siblings, Mary Craig, Wesley (Kelsey) Martin, Christina Craig, Brandon (Anastasia) Linn, Charlene Martin, Teneshia Spears, Reisha Linn, Shelby (Dakota) Anderson, Cheyenne Vanzee, Justin (Jon) Vanzee, Halla (Cass) Lester, Michael (Jess) Linn, Dottie (DJ) Parsons, and Scotty (Jess) Vanzee; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Philip Thacker.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, January 24, 2021 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines. The family will greet friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., services starting at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in loving memory of Amy.
